Overview and Definition
Recruiting activities for employers include but are not limited to posting jobs/internships, on-campus or virtual recruitment, group information sessions, information tables, and job fairs. The CAPE offers assistance to employers in accordance with the Principles of Professional Practice for Career Services and Employment Professionals outlined by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) and employers are expected to act in accordance with the principles.
BengalLink Job and Internship Postings
The CAPE encourages employers to post openings on BengalLink, powered by Symplicity-CSM. Each posting is reviewed by a CAPE staff member for approval and should include complete contact and job/internship information. If information is omitted, then the CAPE reserves the right not to post opportunities with an organization. We are unable to post private residence/in-home & childcare opportunities. Organizations must provide the following information:
- Organization name and description
- Industry
- Website address (if applicable)
- First/last name and job title of contact person
- Contact Information including phone number and organization email address (Personal email addresses will not be accepted unless pre-approved by CAPE staff.)
- Job title and description, including qualifications.
- Location of position
BengalLink Job Posting System
- Access to student/alumni resume books on BengalLink is to be utilized for employment purposes only.
- BengalLink is not a source for posting of training or post graduate education and teach/study/intern abroad programs.
Internships
Employers wanting to post internship opportunities (paid or unpaid) should consult the US Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), as well as the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) guidelines on internships. Below is information about wage requirements for organizations in NYS.

Commission Only/Entrepreneurial Opportunities
Employers posting commission sales positions to students and alumni through BengalLink and those participating in recruiting activities, must be sure the compensation arrangement is clearly noted on job listings and is thoroughly explained in recruiting conversations and interviews with students.
Organizations with multiple direct sales representatives may only have one primary recruiter as determined by the CAPE and the organization.
Third Party Recruiters
Third Party recruiters can post on BengalLink if they identify the client in the posting for which they are hiring. When requesting access to BengalLink, resume books will not be made available.
- Third Party recruiters must select "Human Resource & Staffing" as the Industry on the Employer Registration form.
- The client name must be listed in the job title when posting positions in BengalLink.
- Student and alumni information must not be provided to any other employer or used for any other reason than the original recruiting purpose.
- Third-party recruiters charging fees to Buffalo State University students and alumni will not be permitted to post positions or have access to any CAPE services.
Employment Job Matching Websites/Services
The CAPE does not allow an organization access to BengalLink when only used to promote a specific job search engine or employment matching service. Examples might include:
- Sites that match tutors, teachers, nannies, work from home positions, etc.
- Job search engine promotion
Only positions for employment vacancies within the organization will be approved. Advertisements to become a user/registrant on the site will not be approved.
Nondiscrimination Notice

Right to Refuse Service
The Buffalo State University CAPE reserves the right to refuse service to employers for factors such as the following:
- Misrepresentation by dishonesty or lack of information
- Fraud
- Unresolved investigations, complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau or other official complaint boards or complaints by students
- Harassment of Buffalo State students, alumni, or staff
- Breach of confidentiality
- Requiring, at the time of application, personal information such as bank and social security numbers
- Positions not likely of interest to college students or alumni
- Excessive outlay of personal funding required to obtain the position
- All positions requiring a fee for training or participation in a work experience
- Any position that does not support the interests of the University or our students will not be posted.
