Personal Statement Review
CAPE counselors will review a draft of a graduate school essay/personal statement. Call or stop in to schedule an appointment. It will be necessary to submit your draft when you schedule the appointment to allow the counselor to review it ahead of time.
Graduate/Professional School Fairs
Each fall the Career and Professional Education Center sponsors the Graduate & Professional School Fair. Representatives from many graduate schools and law schools are available to discuss their institutions and programs. This face-to-face contact with admissions representatives can benefit you as a candidate in many ways. Make a point to attend these events.
The faculty members in your department are a valuable resource and can provide great insight into graduate programs of study and the application process.
Pre-Med and Pre-Health Advising
The pre-health professions adviser assists students who are interested in entering one of the health professions by providing advice about the application process and preparing supporting materials for students' applications. Students considering medical, dental, veterinary, optometry, podiatry and other health professions schools should contact the pre-health professions advisor, Kelly Boos, Advisement Program Manager, Science And Math Complex 332, 878-6674.
Pre-Law Advising
Buffalo State provides pre-law advisement to assist students who plan to attend law school. Faculty members knowledgeable of the legal profession are available for consultation on such matters as recommended undergraduate pre-law courses, LSATs, and law school admissions practices.
