Applying for Jobs
-
Follow application instructions listed in the job posting. Does it require a cover letter, resume or an
application? Fill out all application materials completely! Employers will be looking to see how well you
follow directions.
-
Create a resume. See samples in this handout and/or
attend a CAPE Resume Writing Workshop.
-
Have your resume and/or cover letter reviewed by a CAPE counselor.
-
Remember to follow up all applications, resumes and possible leads via phone, email, or perhaps visiting the

interested.

Interviews may be conducted via phone, video conferencing (ex. Skype), or in person.
-
Attend a CAPE Interview Workshop, schedule a mock interview or
visit the website to learn how to interview professionally.

employer(s). Show, don’t tell!
-
Dress appropriately for an in-person or Skype interview, even for part-time jobs!
- Write a thank you letter within 24 hours of the interview, even if the interview was short or over the telephone.
